GREENE, NY-
An Antique and Arts Community
Welcome to historic Greene, an antique and arts community offering
first-time visitors and old friends a treasure trove of shopping,
fine dining, overnight lodging and recreational opportunities.
Finding your way around Greene or locating any particular shop or
service in the community is usually as easy as asking the first person
you meet on the street. Friendliness and hospitality are traditions
we simply refuse to forsake.
We invite you to take the time to browse through our specialty shops
and stores and rediscover the pleasure of shopping in a community
where neighbors still know each other by name and strangers are welcomed
as new friends. And, if a little nourishment is in order during your
stay in Greene, we invite you to take a break from shopping in any
of our many fine restaurants. The coffee is always on and the service
is bound to be friendly.
Meeting Dates and Times:
May 29, 5:45 - Genegantslet Golf Course
June 26, 7:30 - Town Hall
Dear Landowner/Merchant/Community,
As a follow up to our Letter to The Editor of the Chenango American earlier this year, we are writing to confirm that The Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce will now be managing the lawn mowing in the village of Greene. Based on numerous concerns expressed since the decision was made to discontinue this service. We have since reversed course and feel it is in the best interest of the community to continue with this service. We would also like to dispel thoughts that this service is a fundraising opportunity for the Chamber. Our participation was, and is without any profit and we are simply passing on the cost to you and serving as a conduit for payment.
We ask that your payment is made by July 1, 2012. The cost for the service will be $110. If you are opting not to participate in this service and have your lawn done on your own please let us know by calling us at 656-8225 or emailing at info@greenenys.com<mailto:info@greenenys.com>, otherwise you will be billed. Please mail your payment to the Chamber. Other mowing options that we are aware of are through Jack Najarian, son of Chiropractor, Cary Najarian.
Additionally, we are holding a networking evening and Q&A session to encourage Chamber Members, especially Merchants, to come and ask questions and get involved. This event is also open to non-chamber members considering membership. The event will be held at Baron's Inn on Thursday night May 17th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Finger foods will be served; cash bar available. This is being sponsored by Sherry Guiles of McKinney Real Estate, Ellen Adams of Country Fixins and Gifts and the Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce.
The purpose of this event is to share our committee structure, to answer questions and to share our vision and direction. We have newly formed a Merchants Committee and Debbie Eggleston will serve as the chair. Please look for our Chamber updates and meeting times and dates on our Facebook page and here on his site. We will also be posting our operating budget at both of these locations for your review.
We look forward to seeing you on the 17th. |
